Quality
Quality is a part of the fabric at Ashill Precision Engineering Ltd. In order to ensure that it is never taken for granted, the Function reports directly to the Managing Director.
Our manufacturing process places responsibility for product quality with the Machinists who machine the products, and they have beginning to end responsibility for the product that they manufacture. Whilst they are trained to undertake in process inspection, we have a dedicated Inspection Department staffed by highly trained inspectors who all possess extensive machining experience.
Because of the complexity of many of the products that we manufacture, coupled with the tight tolerances that we must achieve, we make extensive use of CNC Coordinate Measuring processes. For example, our Aberlink Axiom Too CNC coordinate measuring machine is further enhanced with the addition of the Aberlink 3D MkIV module, the CAD Comparison Module, and the Programming From CAD Data module. Programming is thus based on the very CAD data which our customers send to us. Machine capability is to the sub-micron level, with travels of 640mm in X, 600mm in Y and 500mm in Z directions. We have the capability of producing the data needed for Statistical Process Control and for the provision of a high degree of process monitoring.
We also utilise a state of the art Baty Venture XT 3030 CNC coordinate measuring machine with both sophisticated vision system technology, as well as the traditional probing facility.
These machines are maintained and calibrated by the manufacturer. We also have the full suite of standard measuring equipment such as shadowgraphs, surface roughness measurement etc, and most of this equipment is manufactured by Mitutoyo.
Full inspection reports such as FAIR’s can be provided together with the provision of material test certificates, and full material traceability is always guaranteed.
The management system of the company is certified to ISO9001-2015 through Alcumus ISOQAR, Certificate Number: 2433/00
