June 2024
The company has increased its surface grinding capability with the arrival of the Alex NH-500 hydraulic reciprocating PLC controlled surface grinder. This programmable semi-automatic machine allows for unattended running and alerts the machinist when the current part is complete.
May 2023
From the beginning of June, Tool Usage Management will be enabled through internet enabled computerised vending, coupled with Just In Time replenishment of KanBan stock, through our preferred tooling supplier, Hardmetal Tool Solutions. This is expected to rationalise the variety of tools in use and drive down the value of our tooling inventory.
February 2023
We have been awarded a grant by the New Anglia Growth Through Innovation Fund, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The funding is in pursuance of a major project to improve manufacturing processes through technological innovation and relates to upgrading CADCAM facilities and subsequent staff training.
August 2022
During August of 2022, we proceeded with the installation and training of the Renishaw probing system on our Mazak Integrex 200 Series IV machining centre. This sophisticated system allows in process measurement of parts without the need to remove the component from the machine. Further, tool breakage detection and automatic drift compensation allow complex parts to be run in a lights out environment.
August 2021
During August 2021, we replaced our ageing compressor with the latest Atlas Copco variable speed technology coupled with a refrigerated dryer unit and oil separator. This system is considerably more economical and environmentally friendly, consuming around two thirds of the original power consumption. Geared up for Industry 4.0, the system sends alert messages regarding its health directly to mobile phones.
May 2021
A major upgrade to our technical capability arrived during May 2021 in the shape of a Hurco VMX30Di machining centre with Kitagawa trunnion. Driven through FeatureCAM, this powerful direct drive machine has a max spindle speed of 15K RPM and advanced interactive graphics.
March 2020
On 27 March 2020 we were very pleased to receive a formal visit to Ashill Precision Engineering by the Mayor of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk. He stated:
